Handmade mud antiques · Small batch

Earth, shaped into heirlooms.

Heritage water pots, earthenware bowls and vintage jugs — thrown by hand, fired slowly, and made to be used every day for the next hundred years.

Our craft

Shaping clay into beauty

Every Mud & Lore piece begins as river clay — wedged by hand, centred on the wheel, and fired slow enough for the earth to remember its shape.

  • Checked like an antique. Ring-tested, weighed and read for patina before it is listed.
  • Fired to last. Dense, high-fired bodies that survive daily use, not shelf-sitting.
  • Made to be mended. We share care guides so chips become character, not landfill.

Kind Words

“The water pot arrived smelling faintly of woodsmoke. It keeps our drinking water cool and looks like it has always lived here.”
Anaya Deshpande Anaya Deshpande
Collector, water-pot keeper
“I style homes for a living and Mud & Lore bowls are my quiet luxury — no two rims match, and that is exactly the point.”
Ruth Calloway Ruth Calloway
Interior stylist
“Took the cup workshop on a whim and left with muddy sleeves, two wobbly bowls, and a completely new Sunday ritual.”

The studio

Molding clay into art

Between antique hunts we throw, trim and glaze in our own studio — so every old piece we sell sits beside new work that honours it.
